Craig Housum

Craig Housum, Choir director

Craig has been singing in choirs since the age of 6 in elementary school and he is still singing professionally today.

As a young boy, he sang with the Ohio Boy Choir for five years, culminating with a tour through Europe in 1985. He continued to sing in high school choirs followed by college choirs, first at Bowling Green State University and then at Cleveland State. He started singing professionally with church choirs while in college and in synagogues in 1993, in addition to singing with the Cleveland Opera for ten years.

Craig’s music teaching and directing career began in 1999. Working with a diverse group of children and adults has been very rewarding to him. He has directed choirs in many multicultural concerts and musicals, coordinated joint parent and student activities that emphasized learning through the arts, and taken select elementary choirs and high school choirs to perform in various civic venues throughout the greater Cleveland area.

His religious choral directing experiences include directing the Shabbat choir at Park Synagogue choir in University Heights for four years and directing the chancel choir and bell choir at Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville, Ohio for two.
